SMSC and PSHE

At the Wroughton Primary Federation we are fully committed to promoting children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and the fundamental values of democracy:

What is PSHE?

PSHE education is defined by the schools inspectorate Ofsted as a planned programme to help children and young people develop fully as individuals and as members of families and social and economic communities.

Across the Wroughton Federation we follow the Jigsaw Schemes of Work, which is a mindful approach to PSHE. Jigsaw PSHE brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a lesson-a-week programme; the jigsaw themes are linked to our Core Values and embedded throughout our curriculum.

Please click on the link below to access the Parent Leaflet, explaining more about how and why Jigsaw is used so successfully throughout our school.

PHSE Work Across The School

Parent responses from SRE Training

‘Very clear messaging seems to be a sensible approach. My child talks about PHSE at home. A partnership approach mirrors all other aspects of learning’

'Session went well, I feel confident that SRE is an improvement from when we were children’

‘An excellent session, very good presenter who really put my mind at rest. Seems like an excellent system that works with the ability and age of the children, thank you.’

‘An excellent introduction using a very child friendly initiative. More information for children as well as educating their parents about dangers of internet posting would be worthwhile (children tend to copy their parents)’
