School Meals

Infant lunch time is Reception: 11.45-12.45 p.m. , Year 1: 12.00-1.00 p.m. and Year 2: 12.15-1.15pm. Junior lunch time is from 12.10 to 1.00 p.m. Children can have either a school meal or bring a packed lunch. Packed lunches should be brought in a labelled plastic container. Drinking water is available all day so please do not send your child in with cans or bottles of flavoured drinks. As we encourage our children to make healthy food choices we ask that their packed lunches do not contain sweets or chocolate bars.

How to get healthier items

What should a healthy packed lunch look like?

We prepare delicious hot and cold healthy meals in our own kitchen. School meals have to be ordered at least one week in advance. All Infant School meals are without charge. Meals at the Junior School cost £2.20 per day and must be paid for in advance. We ask that all school meals are booked and paid for via Parentpay.

We are continually looking for ways to improve our school meal service and would welcome any comments or suggestions that you have.

School Dinner Ordering Deadline

School Meals must be ordered at least one week in advance. As a rule dinners will close on the Sunday one week before the week you are booking for. Click on the following link to see the cut off dates for placing your dinner orders. The exception for this is school holiday time when we will ask for dinner orders to be in early to allow the kitchen time to make the necessary food preparations.

Tuck Shop & Water

Break time Snack

At the Infant School fresh fruit is available for the children at break time each day. At the Junior Schools snacks are available during break time from the Tuck Shop in the school hall.

Water & Water Bottles

We have made a real commitment to our school being a healthy school and have just received the Healthy Schools Whole School Review certificate. We ask children to keep a drinking water bottle with them so they can take regular sips throughout the day. Infant School parents are invited to provide a clear water bottle of their choosing for their child.

At the Junior School we will give all children a free water bottle when they join. Replacement bottles can be brought from your child’s class Teaching Assistant at a cost of £1.50.

Kindness, Respect and Belonging

At the Wroughton Federation, we know how important lunchtimes are. Not only do the children get the time to refuel and give themselves a well-earned break but they also get the opportunity to develop their social and physical skills. At the core of lunchtime management are the MDSAs & Playleaders, a group of dedicated staff to whom the safety, well-being and happiness of the children is paramount. At any given time during the lunchtime period you will find them playing games, offering kind words of encouragement and promoting the school’s core values of kindness, respect and belonging.
